Our 2009 Community Report is now online at

CMFHP Community Relations Representatives serve as liaisons between CMFHP and the community. Our main role is to share resources with members and potential members by performing community outreach in designated territories.

Community Relations Representatives maintain a presence and facilitate involvement with many community organizations on both sides of the state line. In addition, they plan community events for CMFHP and coordinate with area agencies to sponsor or co-sponsor events, including: Community Relations Representatives also conduct presentations, in-service sessions, and personal visits. We can even help professionals earn CEUs.

Presentations

CMFHP Community Relations Representatives are trained to provide state-approved Hand Washing, Physical Activity, Nutrition and Healthy Habits Jeopardy presentations for children.

Hand Washing: Community Relations Representatives explain that hand washing is the number one prevention tool in stopping the spread of germs. Community Relations Representatives review proper hand washing techniques and provide materials for children to share with siblings and parents.

Physical Activity: Students will get the chance to move around and get some of those wiggle bugs out of their system. This presentation is available for grades K-2 and 3-5.

Nutrition: Community Relations Representatives educate students on the importance of starting their day with a healthy breakfast, not drinking sugary drinks, keeping active, and eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables every day.

Healthy Habits Jeopardy: Students are challenged by questions that will serve as gentle reminders of how to eat healthy and practice other healthy habits like brushing their teeth and washing their hands. Healthy Habits Jeopardy is available for grades 6-12.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

Calling all nurses, social workers, and counselors in need of CEUs! CMFHP would like to help you earn one unit at no cost to you.

Just contact the Community Relations Representative in your area and ask for the “Connection” Presentation. Listen to the CMFHP 20 minute presentation and fill out the evaluation and CEU forms. Give the forms back to the representative to forward to the Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics education department. They will mail you your CEU certificate.

Community Advisory Council (CAC)

We invite you to join our Community Advisory Council (CAC). The committee meets four times a year to discuss Children's Mercy Family Health Partners and give the plan feedback about what works and what doesn't.

If you would like more information about joining this group, please contact the Community Relations Representative for your area. We want to hear from you!
